黄芩苷是从唇形科植物黄芩（Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi）的干燥根部中提取分离得到的一种黄酮类化合物。

Baicalein is a yellow powder which is extracted from scutellaria baicalensis root. It is a flavone found in several species in the genus scutellaria, including scutellaria lateriflora (baikal skullcap). It is a component of Chinese medicinal herb Huang-chin (scutellaria baicalensis) and one of the chemical ingredients of Sho-Saiko-To, an herbal supplement.Baicalin is a known prolyl endopeptidase inhibitor, induces apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells,and affects the GABA receptors.

The flavonoid baicalein inhibits superantigen-induced inflammatory cytokines and chemokines.It has antioxidant activity so it has anti-inflammatory effects, anti-HIV activity, apoptosis induction and inhibition of colon aberrant crypts. It also has functions on inhibition of cancer cell proliferation; protecting bone marrow, promoting hemopoiesis, and protecting the intestines from adverse chemotherapy effects.

功效 / Functions:

黄芩素具有抗炎、抗变态反应、利尿、利胆、降胆固醇、降低脑血管阻力、改善脑血循环、增加脑血流量、抗血栓形成及抗血小板凝集、缓解哮喘等作用，临床用于脑血管病后瘫痪的治疗。黄芩素也是哺乳动物肝脏涎酶的特异性抑制剂，具有调节某些疾病的作用。工业上以其为原料制取黄芩苷原磷酸酯用于过敏、喘息性肺炎，也作收敛剂、止血药。
