4: Safety. Acute oral dose: LD50≥3g/kg (rat); Acute injectable dose: LD50≥2g/kg (rat).

Chloroxylenol (PCMX), also known as p-Chloro-m-xylenol, is a halogenated phenolic disinfectant. It is chemically stable and readily soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and polyethylene glycols, as well as strong alkaline aqueous solutions. It does not become inactive under normal storage conditions.

PCMX is a widely recognized, highly effective, broad-spectrum, and safe preservative, bactericide, and antibacterial agent. It is effective against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and molds, and is characterized by low toxicity and non-irritation. Its safety has been certified by the US FDA, making it a preferred bactericide widely used in disinfection and protection. PCMX exerts its antibacterial effect by disrupting the cell membrane potential. In hospitals and homes, PCMX is used for disinfection and cleaning. It is also used in the production of antibacterial soaps, wound cleansing agents, and household antiseptics.

PCMX can be widely used as an antifungal and antibacterial agent in disinfectants and personal care products, such as anti-dandruff shampoos, hand sanitizers, soaps, and other antibacterial detergents. It can also be used as a preservative and mildew inhibitor in industries such as adhesives, coatings, paints, textiles, leather, and papermaking. PCMX is used in emulsions, cosmetics, inks, plywood, and plastics as a mildew inhibitor, particularly suitable for rigid and semi-rigid PVC sheets and artificial leather. It has good heat and weather resistance, low water extraction, and strong durability in resins. PCMX can be used in various antibacterial treatment processes, such as antibacterial treatment of leather, paper, textiles, and photographs.

1. Hospital and General Pharmaceutical Use: Skin disinfection before patient surgery; sterilization of medical equipment; daily cleaning of equipment and hard surfaces to prevent cross-infection; can be used in the production of medical antibacterial soaps, athlete's foot disinfectants, and general first aid supplies; can be formulated into liquid, anhydrous hand sanitizers, powders, creams, and lotions; can also be used as a preservative in other pharmaceuticals.

2. Household and Daily Use: Skin wound disinfectants and insecticides (liquid, creams, and lotions); general disinfectants and detergents; antibacterial soaps and personal hygiene hand sanitizers; shampoos (especially those with anti-dandruff properties).

3. Industrial Use: Coatings: Added as a fungicide to coatings, suitable for humid environments. Adhesives and Binders: Prevents microbial decomposition, avoids odors, clogs filters and corrodes metals, and prevents product failure. Leather Treatment: Prevents mold growth and resists bacterial and fungal attacks (especially salted furs, vegetable leathers, and salted or dried raw hides).
