L-Carnosine, scientifically known as β-alanyl-L-histidine, is a crystalline dipeptide composed of two amino acids, β-alanine and L-histidine. L-Carnosine is commonly found in organs and tissues such as the brain, heart, skin, muscle, kidney, and stomach, with muscle and brain tissue containing high concentrations of carnosine.

L-Carnosine activates cells and combats aging through two mechanisms: inhibiting glycation and protecting cells from free radical damage. Glycation results in uncontrolled cross-linking of sugar molecules with proteins (sugar molecules adhere to proteins), leading to loss of cell function and incomplete genetic composition, which accelerates aging. L-Carnosine also stabilizes cell membranes and reduces brain lipid peroxidation, thereby preventing neurological and brain degeneration.
