L-Prolinamide is a natural α-amino acid, also known as L-alaninamide. It is produced by decarboxylation of L-proline.

L-Prolinamide can be used as a raw material for health products, a pharmaceutical intermediate, and an intermediate for the diabetes drug vildagliptin. In addition, it is an important optically active pyrrole derivative that can directly catalyze asymmetric Robinson cyclization reactions, Aldol reactions, etc. It is an important intermediate in peptide synthesis and can also be used as a chiral intermediate to synthesize certain chiral drugs.

The main uses of L-prolinamide are as follows:
