抑菌剂 / antibacterial preservative

1: Contact Lens Solutions: A common preservative in contact lens storage and rinsing solutions to maintain sterility. For monthly or annual contact lenses, the proteins, enzymes and oils in the tear film accumulate on the lenses over time. Excessive accumulation will damage the quality of the tear film between the lens and the cornea, causing dry eyes, congestion and discomfort. Therefore, we need to remove foreign matter from the lenses regularly. The role of the care solution is to sterilize and dissolve the proteins on the lenses. Polyquaternium-1 (Polyquad-1; PQ-1; CAS# 75345-27-6) and Myristamidopropyl Dimethylamine(CAS# 75345-27-6) are used in the care solution as new and milder bactericides.

2: Eye Drops: Used as a bacteriostatic agent in multi-dose eye drops for conditions like glaucoma and artificial tears. It helps prevent microbial contamination after the bottle is opened. It is considered less toxic and causes less ocular irritation compared to some traditional preservatives like benzalkonium chloride (BAK).

3: Cosmetics and Personal Care Products:

3.1: Preservative: Its antimicrobial properties help prevent spoilage and ensure product safety.

3.2: Conditioning Agent: Can enhance hair manageability and softness in shampoos and conditioners.

3.3: Film-Forming Agent: May provide a protective layer on the skin or hair.

3.4: Stabilizer: Can improve the stability of emulsions in creams and lotions.

4: Pharmaceutical Formulations: Used as an excipient in some drug formulations to enhance solubility and bioavailability of active ingredients and as a stabilizing agent in drug delivery systems.

5: Medical Devices: Can be used as a surface protection antimicrobial for medical devices.
